What is SLS/SLES?
Sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS) and sodium laureth sulfate (SLES) are just a few ingredients that are added to a range of everyday products.
SLS and SLES are chemical ingredients that make your products lather and foam nicely. (Also called surfactants- in case you’ve seen that term and wonder what it means!) They effectively remove oils (which is why garages use them to degrease car engines and clean floors). Now imagine that on your SKIN stripping away your natural oils. Using products containing these ingredients can cause your skin to become oiler and breakout with acne as your skin is trying to overcompensate for the loss of natural oils that have been harshly stripped. SLS and SLES are really cheap ingredients for companies to buy. Over the years, people have become accustomed to their products foaming and making nice little bubbles. Yes, marketers have convinced us that for a product to work, it must foam a lot.
SLS is known to be a skin irritant. As I've stated, It can strip the skin of its natural oils which can cause dry skin, irritation and reactions. And this is why you may come out of the shower feeling dry and tight after using name brand soaps. It can also be very irritating on the eyes. Inflammatory skin reaction could include itchy skin and scalp, eczema and dermatitis.

What is Glycerin?
Glycerin is a natural component of healthy skin. Whether derived from vegetable or animal sources, or made synthetically, glycerin is hygroscopic. What that means is that glycerin can draw moisture from the air around us and help keep that moisture in our skin. Another word for hygroscopic is humectant.
Research has shown that glycerin mimics what's known as skin's natural moisturizing factor (NMF), which is why it's compatible with all skin types, of all ages.
The soap base that I use is Vegetable based, vegan & gluten free.
